Location

Vista Bella Golf is situated near to Jacarilla a pretty inland village between San Miguel de Salinas and Orihuela. It has an impressive country palace (now disused) set in 20,000 square meters which dominates its centre and forms part of the village park containing statues, ponds, fountains and with a lovely shaded children's play area. The church is adjacent to the palace and the bars and cafes of the village as well as a few small shops can be found in the surrounding streets.
San Miguel de Salinas is the highest town in the comarca. Its area (54 km²) descends from the mountain with many streams and gullies leading to the plain, known as El Llano, where the salt lakes are found. This quaint inland village has a pleasant church square, adequate shopping and plenty of choice of international cuisine at the many bars, cafes and restaurants. The Wednesday morning street market is always busy. Local roads connect the town with Orihuela, Bigastro, Torrevieja and other towns in the area.

The City of Orihuela has one of the largest cultural heritages of any town or city in this area and was home to the famous Spanish poet Miguel Hernandez. So if it is museums that you love, then head to the Centro Historico and visit the tourist office to ask them for more information. Even if you are not a museum lover, Orihuela is still worth a visit, if only to experience the boutique shops, the tapas bars, the Tuesday or Saturday morning market, plazas, and the real Spanish atmosphere which Orihuela has in abundance. There is a modern train station from which you catch a train north, to Alicante and Elche or south, to Murcia and then beyond.
